No Shame

A couple of nights ago while eating at a local restaurant two women with two young children came into the restaurant and sat down. They went and served themselves from the buffet. I didn't think they had paid upon entering which was how this restaurant was set-up. I wasn't sure.
While eating their meal a waitress asked if they had paid,  When she informed the manger they hadn't paid the manager started calling someone (police I suppose). The women and children left quickly.

What I must say that shocked me the most was the women were not the least bit ashamed and almost seemed to have the attitude that they were entitled to eat there for free!
No matter how you see it those "ladies" (term used in the loosest since of the word) had  stolen from the restaurant. You could argue they were just trying to feed the children (why did the two adults have more food) or maybe they were hungry ( they didn't look too hungry if you catch my drift).  Bottom line is they are thieves.

I have often wondered how modern society would handle immediate punishment for any wrongs (sins) committed. God would dole out punishment as soon as the LAW was broken.

Remember Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5:1-10 of the New Testament?.  God Struck Ananias dead at the alter. Then when Sapphira committed the same sin she was struck down too. You see what they did was essentially what the "ladies" did. They had stolen and lied. The "ladies" from the restaurant,  Ananias and Sapphira  from God.. Both cases totally without shame. Both case have consequences.

I just wonder what would happen tomorrow at work if someone steals something or lies about something and the Lord strikes them down immediately how long would it take to make a better work environment. How many people would still be there to take care of the patients. Would you ? Would I? Something to think about isn't it. See you in chuech Sunday?

John 3:30

Acts 5:1-10 (NKJV)

1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession.
2 And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
3 But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?
4 While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”
5 Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things.
6 And the young men arose and wrapped him up, carried him out, and buried him.
7 Now it was about three hours later when his wife came in, not knowing what had happened.
8 And Peter answered her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?” She said, “Yes, for so much.”
9 Then Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.”
10 Then immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her by her husband.

WOW

Well My Last Post was in June 2010. I alluded to the fact that I had done pulpit supply here in the Delta. You see in April 2010 my wife and I went to the alter at our church my prayer was God if you want me to go into the ministry if you opened the door I'll go through it. I didn't tell anyone about this. The very next day I recieved a phone call to preach at a church. The calls kept coming . Wednesday nights, Sunday morning breakfasts many more churches.
After several Sundays in one particular church I recieved another fateful call A deacon from that little church called and we talked. A week later I met with the deacon board. I have been their pastor now for about two and a half months. We have seen the attendance grow from between seven to thirteen to twenty to twenty-five. God is blessings our church. I will be posting my sermons here on a regular basis. They will not be verbatim as I delivered them but the main thought and verses will be here. Only my personal analogys will missing.
